Monday Misprices for the Wyndham Championship
Last week I was all over “Cousin Harris” English as the top value play of the week. That looked really good after 54 holes of domination, but as does happen so often out on Tour, even the most sturdy players find some trouble and unfortunately that’s what happened on the Par 3s for Harris come Sunday. After shooting himself out of it with multiple water balls, another one of our favorite members of the fantasy Family Tree, Abraham “THE PROPHET” Ancer came out victorious in a playoff over Sammy The Bull and Hideki. Now the Tour heads a short way east for the Wyndham Championship at the Sedgefield Country Club of North Carolina-the final full-field event of the season before the Fedex Cup Playoffs commence.
This is a familiar, classic Donald Ross track coming in as a Par 70, around 7,100 yards, lined with bermuda grass throughout. The greens are large and unique in their undulations, and thus we’ve seen guys with positive experiences succeed here year after year. So, without further adieu, here are my top Draftkings value plays under $8,000...
$7,900-”MIGHTY MITO” PEREIRA-talk about comin’ in hawt! The pride of Santiago has been firing on all cylinders for the better part of the last year between the Korn Ferry and PGA Tours. Then we saw him continue that strong play in Japan where he lost in the bronze medal playoff. I do have a little trepidation in regards to his lack of experience on these unique Donald Ross green complexes, yet he has found success on plenty of new venues recently and I expect that to continue at Sedgefield.
$7,600-”GENERAL PATTON” KIZZIRE-a founding member of the BBC (no, not THAT BBC, the other, other one, The "Bermuda Boyz Club" duhhh), and I’m running with him and the rest of the Georgia Dawgs this week. Along with his proclivity for bermuda tracks, we’ve seen him demolish the Sony Open (Par 70, warm climate) and perpetually lurk whenever birdies are ripe for the picking. As long as he doesn’t go too wayward off the tee, we are going to war El Generale once (lol) more this week.
$7,500-HV3-it’s time ain’t it? I mean, there may be no one the community would like to see get that illusive W more than the old Varndoggie. I always remember that photo from a few years back, when he was mowing his parents lawn after one of many near misses the day before. What a guy. So let’s get it done this week for the pride of the Carolinas on a course he was 7th at last year, why the hell not?
$7,100-SEPP “THE AUSTRIAN BULLDOG” STRAKA-this guy has burned me more than the Sun, but yet here we are again. He was severely lurking in Tokyo after an extremely impressive first round in the low 60s at the Olympics a couple weeks ago. Now he’s back on the bermuda turf which he’s extremely comfortable with from his days back in Athens (Georgia). We know he loves himself a birdie fest, so I expect this Dawg to be HUNGRY come Thursday.
Sicko Specials-$7,000 or less (tread lightly): STUARD (3rd in strokes gained putting over his last 3 events), LONG (The Dukie for @ROMEOTHECADDY), Roger Tell “SLOAN” I said whaddup, CAMILO, and Davis “Yung Junah” THOMPSON...
BOL TO ALL!
