Coming off his best week yet with Bubba Watson, Brian “The Harmanator”, and handsome Victor Perez (4th) all advancing out of pool play, Chief will try and give you a few more dark horses to consider as Draftkings Value Plays…
Aaron Wise - $8,000: Regular listeners to the “Who’s Your Caddy?” podcast will know my general disdain for this guy’s game, but his performance at the Honda speaks for itself. If not for a Matt Jones blackout 61 and a self-implosion over the weekend, the Wise Man shot back to back 64s on Thurs/Fri and likely would have won. Additionally, he was T2 at the Mayakoba, the other Greg Norman design on Tour besides TPC San Antonio, so at $8k in a weak field, give me some wisdom from A-Aron this week.
Doug Ghim - $7,300: Yee-haw and howdy doody because we get the ball striking aficionado Dougie Ghimbo No-Slice this week on home turf. While not his literal home soil, Dougie played at nearby UT Austin in his college days so he’s used to the windy conditions. Furthermore, we saw him lurking at Sawgrass recently, as well as his general disposition of striking his irons in Hoganesque fashion, critical this week. I expect a bounceback from him here, near the home of the legendary Mr. Hogan.
Chase Seiffert - $7,100: Vinny Chase Seiffert is a name to star this week. Here’s a guy coming off a T20 at Corales, preceded by a 6th at the Windy AF Honda Classic. His irons are being hit with the deftness of Lord Byron, and the accuracy of a scud missile. All at $7,100?! Where do I sign up?
SICKO SPECIAL - Kramer Hickok - $6,400: Tread lightly with this one boys and girls, but Cousin Kramer may peek his head into T20 range this week, at flea market pricing no less. The former Longhorn loves himself a stiff breeze and has contended on correlated courses throughout his early days on tour. Throw him a bonus point for rooming with Mr. Spieth and having to undoubtedly listen to him talk to himself for hours at a time. We love Cousin Kramer as a 5% or less owned sleeper play to channel his inner Roy McAvoy and lurk this week.
