Monday Misprices for The Northern Trust

The Best Draftkings Value Plays Under $8,000
by Joe Thomas aka @Blatant_Chief

Last week we were on Roger Sloan who lost (along with four others) in a playoff to Kevin Kisner at the Wyndham. Some of our other plays lurked as well (Stuard and HV3 primarily), but overall it was a frustrating week as travel seemed to catch up to some of our top in-form plays. This week, the Fedex Cup playoffs begin as the Tour heads to one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the nation: Liberty National in Jersey City. The course is mostly bentgrass and has stunning views overlooking the Manhattan skyline. As a Par 71 around 7,400 yards, we have seen the cream rise to the top with Patrick Reed (2019) and Adam Scott (2013) coming out victorious the last two times The Northern Trust (formerly, The Barclays) was played here. As is with most majors/WGC/playoff events, there are many players priced lower than normal due to the strength of field, and thus we will go rapid fire. So, without further adieu, here are my top Draftkings value plays under $8,000...

$7,900-KEVIN KISNER-coming off a massive W at the Wyndham, one of the top Georgia Dawgs is still trying to cement himself as a Captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup with a strong finish to the season. Steve Stricker will have an extremely difficult choice, but I don’t see how you can leave a player with his level of national pride, and match play ferocity off the team. I think Kis knows this and will continue to play his way on with another lurk, feeding off the energy of the Big Apple crowds. Oh and he had a Top 5 at this tournament last year (played at TPC Boston), and a 12th here in 2019.

$7,700-IAN POULTER-the theme of trying to lock up a borderline Ryder Cup spot will continue throughout this column as we next land on the Englishman, Mr. Poulta. Here’s a guy who will feed off the negative energy the raucous crowd will be throwing his way. With a 10th here in 2019 and a 9th in 2009, he clearly feels comfortable with it all. Coupled with the desperation to get on the European RC squad, I think he shows up again at Liberty National this week.

$7,800-TY HATTON (TUESDAY ADD)-quite simply, we encountered a similar pricing error just a few weeks ago where the foul-mouthed ball-striking aficionado was drastically underpriced for his world ranking (13th)...so we run it back.

$7,700-JASON “THE KOKRAKEN”-12th in 2019, and 9th in 2013 here, the beast of the seven seas should be ready to feast again on Liberty National. It’s somewhat wild to think that even with two wins on the season already (and many other big lurks) he still is on the outside looking in for Whistling Straits on points, and thus will likely need to either Win or T5-10 for Captain Stricker to offer a Captain’s pick to him. It’s attack mode here on out for the big fella.

$7,500-KEEGAN BRADLEY-Former St. John’s standout student athlete in Queens, and one of the best to ever tee it up at the illustrious Wheatley Hills Golf Club on the nearby Golden Coast of Long Island’s North Shore, KEEGS is a must-sprinkle at any NY event. Pure and simple. Maybe he’ll catch a hot putter this week. We’ll be pulling for him as always.

$7,300-PHIL-see, Poulter, Ian.

$7,100-JHONNY V-impeccable form last 6 months = must be peppered.

Sicko Specials (below $7,000): HV3 (a 3rd here, playing better, final group at Bethpage), SNEDS (good history here and Bethpage, elite bent putter), Big Country Troy Merritt (shot 62 here), Piercy/Stuard/Straka (riding the hot hands), and last but not least, Andy PUTNAM for reasons beyond comprehension.

BOL TO ALL!
