2024 Masters Preview

2024 Masters Preview

With a tradition truly unlike any other now only a week away, the azaleas are in full bloom at Augusta National as the game's best ready to don the green jacket. So as the PGA - LIV controversy hits a fever pitch, Magnolia Lane awaits the arrival of their next champion with open arms.

Below are my initial thoughts on each player currently in the field, in descending order of Draftkings DFS price...

PLAYER (DK ID) DINO NUGGETS
Scottie Scheffler (33405823) Capo di tutti capi.
Jon Rahm (33405824) Bad karma for LIV departure? Perhaps. If not, could repeat.
Rory McIlroy (33405825) It's time (for the tenth year running), but really. Guided by Uncle Butchie, it's time.
Brooks Koepka (33405826) Surely has been SEETHING for vengeance, and will have a damn good shot at it.
Wyndham Clark (33405827) First-timer = auto no-play for me, but lesser players have lurked than the reigning US Open champ...
Xander Schauffele (33405828) Mr. Major is still without a Major, but not for long...
Joaquin Niemann (33405829) Top LIV player warrants the price despite mid-major results. Says he loves it here, Riviera correlation i strong, and tough bent tracks overall, he could shine.
Viktor Hovland (33405830) Wait for Valhalla.
Patrick Cantlay (33405831) The "If X, then PC Law" still applies, but moreso with X nowawdays...
Jordan Spieth (33405832) Will continue to lurk here, and maybe not many places else; but, much like Jack, Seve, Tiger, Phil, and others, Jordan will be immortal here.
Will Zalatoris (33405833) He's been waiting for this day for a long, long time for the top recent stroke gainer here; BUT looked sketch last couple starts tho...
Ludvig Aberg (33405834) This will be a comfortable place for Aberg, but he's gonna have to learn a bit...
Hideki Matsuyama (33405835) Has won this in far worse form, W @ Riv (big correlation), grab the Pepto and the Bengay, and buckle up...
Cameron Smith (33405836) Could end up being an egregious misprice...
Dustin Johnson (33405837) Could be another erroneous misprice...or maybe he truly doesn't GAF anymore. Prada ain't cheap doe...
Justin Thomas (33405838) Typical high/low start to year, but getting rid of Bones a week before Masters would be a low...
Tony Finau (33405839) Perpetual major lurker of the highest oyda, Uncle Tony loves it here, will always fit well, and has some good karma coming his way...
Cameron Young (33405840) Coming off the crushing L to Malnati, BUT is undoubtedly an IDEAL fit for ANGC with his high apex, lurked last year on first try, and will again, very soon...
Collin Morikawa (33405841) Just never my cup of tea; has lurked here, but looks off to me still.
Max Homa (33405842) Finally proved he can hang at majors last Open, and despite a rocky '24, is an baffling misprice for his win equity.
Bryson DeChambeau (33405843) For some reason the cawse seems to not suit his wandering eye (yet).
Sam Burns (33405844) Excellent start to the year, another one who should (and may very well will) have a better record here as the years go by.
Shane Lowry (33405845) Has a T3 here and a special spring thus far; any rust?
Matt Fitzpatrick (33405846) The '22 USO champ must be respected at majors, especially at this price
Brian Harman (33405847) The ornery southpaw and CGOTYear also must be respected at majors, especially at this price, could be the new Weir.
Sahith Theegala (33405849) Really nice price for a T9 on first attempt, and several nice finishes this year...
Jason Day (33405848) Have simply not seen enough consistency for lukrage despite his solid record here.
Tyrrell Hatton (33405851) Quite a disrespectful price for a player of his ilk, but hates the cawse, so yea idfk.
Sungjae Im (33405850) Was RU on debut to DJ in the Fall Classic, but has been middling to put it nicely this year...
Tommy Fleetwood (33405852) Utterly felonious price for his major record...
Corey Conners (33405853) Best Case: T10, worst case T40. Gotta pepper.
Patrick Reed (33405855) *insert Darth Vader gif, but with hammer over lightsaber.
Tom Kim (33405854) Best Case: T10, worst case T40 IMHO.
Min Woo Lee (33405856) Lurked on first try here and great 6-month form for Le Chef...
Rickie Fowler (33405857) So badly wish I could hammer...but I probably cannot (key word, "probably").
Justin Rose (33405858) Terrific history here, but does he have any left in the tank? The JRose Sub-8k Major Law still applies...
Russell Henley (33405859) T5 last year, likelihood of it happening again? Possible, but unlikely.
Adam Scott (33405860) I just have a feeling The Jawline has one more special run in him...
Si Woo Kim (33405861) Has lurked here without a putter, but in so-so form, likely a fade for me.
Stephan Jaeger (33405862) Great guy, first timer, no thanks.
Harris English (33405865) Cousin Harris aka TOP DAWG, the perennial USO lurker, is in great form, and way underpriced.
Nick Taylor (33405863) Intriguing due to great YTD form, but may have t20 upside.
Phil Mickelson (33405864) Sprinkle til retirement; the new Freddy.
Chris Kirk (33405868) Captain Kirk was featured in last year's Milly Maker winner, has a Win this year, why not again?
Matthieu Pavon (33405867) Started the year in scaldeenish fashion, but this is a whole other level.
Cameron Davis (33405866) Just hammer Harris.
J.T. Poston (33405871) The Postman has had a sneaky special run of form this year, and despite his length, or lack thereof, has the deftness of Gandalf on any green.
Sergio Garcia (33405870) May warrant a sprinkle for his history here and LIV resentment, but prefer The Postman's form at this price.
Tiger Woods (33405869) Just enjoy it if he lurks.
Sepp Straka (33405872) The AUSTRIAN BULLDAWG should go well here with his length and Southern ties...
Ryan Fox (33405873) How can he make a tight core with his erratic nature? Even with his length...
Keegan Bradley (33405874) Really wish I could hammer Cousin Keegs, but alas I cannot.
Nicolai Hojgaard (33405875) Special young man who could certainly t20, but idk if he has the tempermanet to flourish here, yet.
Erik Van Rooyen (33405878) He merits a sprinkle at the least based on his YTD form, and the debonair nature of his stache.
Eric Cole (33405876) Need to see it here first; lack of length doesn't help the The Delray Stringray here.
Adam Hadwin (33405877) Prefer EVR's upside at this price.
Jake Knapp (33405879) To borrow a phrase from Uncle Clyde, the precoious neophyte could go well here one day, but tis not yet his time.
Luke List (33405881) The Augusta native and prodigious driver of the golf ball might be due for some good ole Southern cooking...
Adrian Meronk (33405880) A ball-striker of the highest order with nice LIV recent form should grow to love ANGC...
Nick Dunlap (33405883) Special place for Amateurs, and Nick the Knight could be this year's Sammy Bennett...
Thorbjorn Olesen (33405882) Nice price for talent, but sketch form of late.
Taylor Moore (33405888) Love, love, love this price for the fiesty cut-making Razorback. Go Hogs.
Bubba Watson (33405886) Don't get pregnant with the 2x winner, but could be this year's Phil...
Emiliano Grillo (33405884) Could lurk strictly based on his T2G game, but I gotta see it first ATG...
Kurt Kitayama (33405885) See, Grillo, Emilianooooo.
Gary Woodland (33405887) Classic "prefer those around him" situation here for the big Jayhawk.
Austin Eckroat (33405889) Must-play on YTD form with a Win, especially at a discount.
Charl Schwartzel (33405891) I wouldn't be shocked at a T10 from the sneaky little former Champ...Recent T2 on LIV.
Ryo Hisatsune (33405890) Special putter put gotta see it here first.
Lucas Glover (33405892) Uncle Lucas has the ball-striking to contend here like Bethpage eons ago, but unfortuantely not the putting.
Danny Willett (33405893) Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling...
Denny McCarthy (33405894) Cousin Lee dersrves the nod as a "Sicko Special"... BUT I'M WEAKKKK for our first born nephew.
Lee Hodges (33405895) Cousin Lee has been a T25 machine and is keen to the East Coast agronomy, and the Riviera correlary, but likely prefer Eckroat for $100 more...
Adam Schenk (33405896) Could he t20? Sure. will he? Unlikely IMHO.
Peter Malnati (33405897) Great story, great guy, will likely be +7 after Amen Corner Thursday.
Grayson Murray (33405898) Doesn't have the interstinal foytitude to lurk here, or maybe he does now, idk.
Christo Lamprecht (33405899) Special young man who lurked at the Open, why not here? Well, this ain't the Open, totally different.
Camilo Villegas (33405900) Just glad to be here.
Jasper Stubbs (33405901) Just glad to be here.
Zach Johnson (33405902) Just glad to be here.
Santiago De la Fuente (33405903) Just glad to be here.
Stewart Hagestad (33405904) Just glad to be here.
Neal Shipley (33405905) Just glad to be here.
Fred Couples (33405906) Just glad to be here.
Mike Weir (33405907) Just glad to be here.
Vijay Singh (33405908) Just glad to be here.
Jose Maria Olazabal (33405909) Just glad to be here.
